Juan Vrijdag a Dutch freelance photojournalist based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Born in 1967, Juan Vrijdag graduated from The Royal Academy of Art on Photojournalism/Documentary.
He initiated his career in 1996 as a freelance photojournalist based in Amsterdam,the Netherlands, working for Reuters, ANP-Photo and diverse daily's and magazines. From 1999 till 2001 he developed the picture-desk for the daily Metro Holland. In 2001 he was asked to become a staff photographer for ANP-Photo, the Dutch national press agency and partner of Getty, AFP and EPA. On assignment he traveled to Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, India, Palestine, Israel, Turkey etc. His pictures are published all over the world.
Juan left ANP-Photo and joined Panos Pictures in London, Laif in Germany and Hollandse-Hoogte Photo agency in the Netherlands.
He moved in 2007 to Amman, Jordan to pursue stories that go beyond headline news. In 2008 Moved back to Amsterdam to become Chief Picture Editor at the daily Het Parool to implement a re-styling. In December 2008 he went back to Amman for a period of 4 years and returned to Amsterdam in 2011 to work on his new Visual Content and Media Startup Publis.pro. His principal objective is to empower professional photographers with a bulletproof online and mobile presence, distribution, non-profit storage, and the ability to publish and resell our photography and multimedia on iPad's.
